Storing rear end differentials is a pain in the butt. They are heavy and they are awkward. You need a buddy to help you move one, and you need at least three jack stands to work on one. This month, we wanted to show you how, with $40 in metal, $30 in casters and about four hours of your time, you can solve all of those issues. With Project Shovelle, C-10 and Stress Relief plus our normal work load at HzEmall Customs, diffs have become a hassle, so we decided to make things a little easier on ourselves. We welded up a movable rack that will allow us to move around and work on three diffs at any given time. We can also weld in a metal grate on the bottom for storage and if we really needed to, we could weld a couple more poles down the back and store 4-5 diffs on it if we wanted to.

2. Started with 2”x2” square tube with 45-degree cut corners. Mounting into our welding vise, this makes it so much easier to get square corners.

4. Got the base of our rack all squared and welded together.
5. Using our other welding vise, this helps us weld perfect 90-degree posts on our base.
6. Now we weld in our 45-degree angle mounting bar.
7. Welded our heavy duty ball bearing casters in place.
8. Welding in our poles for the differentials to actually rest on. This position actually allows the differential to stay in one spot, making it easy to work on instead of a couple of jack stands.
